World Superbike Superpole was fifteen minutes of unknown tyre performance on a resurfaced track, colder than yesterday. Last year's lap record was set by Toprak Razgatlioglu, a 1'32.877.
Toprak Razgatlioglu set a new lap record of 1'31.945 on his first lap and headed back to the pits for a tea break. Andrea Locatelli followed him, second quickest six tenths off Razgatlioglu's lap. Jonathan Rea and Alvaro Baustaia were third and fourth quickest before the mid-session break.
Halfway through the session, Razgatlioglu and Locatelli left the pits early as Michael van der Mark and Xavi Vierge circulated on lonely laps.
Toprak Razgatlioglu moved the goalposts again with a frankly ridiculous 1'31.371, a second quicker than Andrea Locatelli's second placed lap. Alvaro Bautista climbed up to third place, but Jonathan Rea found some pace on his last lap and dragged his teammate Alex Lowes behind him as he claimed third place with Lowes deposing Bautista to fifth place.
As the flag came out, Alvaro Bautista was on a personal best lap, but he lost the pace midway through the lap and couldn't improve on fifth place. Jonathan Rea got a second fast lap out of his tyre and deposed Locatelli to third place.
Toprak Razgatlioglu took pole position over a second clear of Jonathan Rea and Andrea Locatelli who got a career first front row start. Alex Lowes led the second row, alongside Alvaro Bautista and Axel Bassani.

Wow!!
They need to take some rpm’s away from Stoprak, or add 25 kilos of ballast since obviously he’s way too fast.
