What an incredible season from El Toro
A record points haul in a single season. Second only to Polen in races wins in a season - 15 to 17 - although Polen's record came on the doubly advantaged Ducati (133-176cc and 20-25kg less weight) over the fours.
Machine advantage? Not in my books. Look where the next best Ducati is. The very talented Mr Guintoli almost 300 points behind. Checa was not on a three hundred point superior 1198.
A truly fairytale year for a rider who's never before threatened to put a championship contending season at world level together.
Congratulations Carlos you were an absolute joy to watch this year. Rarely have I seen man and machine look so graceful going silly fast whilst looking slow.
